The iPhone 14 will most likely hit the market in September 2022 and it will be furtherance to its precursor, iPhone 13 series. Well, September is a way off but leakers have already begun letting out probable features of the iPhone 14.

That being said, we have a good picture of what the iPhone 14 series would look like. Notwithstanding, we are quite dubious as there is time for things to take a different turn.

Anyhow, the rumors are promising and they point to a completely new design of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, and tremendous camera upgrades.

Here is everything we have heard about iPhone 14 including information on the potential release date and price. We will be keen to add any additional information that we get before the gadget hits the market.

Latest on iPhone 14

A key iPhone analyst predicts that the smartphone giant will launch an iPhone 14 that only has an eSim – a non-removable SIM Card. They further claim that Apple will release models with physical SIM cards so buyers have a choice.

Everything you need to know about iPhone 14

iPhone 14 Release date

Currently, there are no rumors on the release date. Apple tends to launch new smartphones in September every year at a special event. Ergo, we can make a good guess that iPhone 14 may drop around that time of the year.

Apple announced iPhone 13 on 14th September 2021 and began shipping on 24th. Perhaps we won’t see iPhone 14 on these dates but the company might unveil it on 6th or 9th September – after all, Apple tends to launch new models on either the first or the second Tuesday of September.

After the launch, new models are ready for pre-order on Friday of that week which will be 9th or 16th September and shipping starts the following Friday (September 16 or 23).

iPhone 14 Price

Leaks point to a base price of $799 with the iPhone Max going for $100 –  iPhone 13 pricing starts at $799 / £779 / AU$1,349 / KES90,806, so that’s fair.

The iPhone 14 Pro will go for $1,099 while iPhone 14 Pro Max will be retailing at $1,199.

iPhone 14 design

Leaks for iPhone 14 Pro Max indicate that the devices will have a punch-hole camera instead of a notch with the Face ID components placed under the screen. Furthermore, the phone won’t have a camera bump –  a feature achieved by making the gadget thicker.

The rear is a semi-glossy glass, volume buttons are rounded and the sides are rumored to be made of titanium – these replace the stainless sides in iPhone 13 Pro Max. The phone will also have a Lightning Port and a triple-lens camera.

iPhone 14 Camera

Some sources predict that both iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will have a triple-lens camera. iPhone 14 will likely have a two-lens camera.

While that doesn’t sound like a big change from iPhone 13 series, the specification of the lenses and sensors may be more powerful.

According to Ming Chi Kuo, a popular analyst of Apple products, both iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will have a 48MP camera, an improvement from 12MP in the current models. Apparently, these models will be capable of recording 8K videos, cool right?

Some claims point to a periscope camera for long-range optical zoom. Notably, most analysts predict the periscope camera will be present in iPhone 15.

iPhone 14 Specs and Features

The iPhone 14 range will most certainly have a new chipset and will likely be called A16 or A16 Bionic. Rose Young claims the chipset would be made in a 4nm process, a huge boost from the 5nm A15 Bionic used in the iPhone 13 series.

For the memory size, a leak suggests that both iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will have 8GB RAM, an upgrade from 6GB.

As far as storage is concerned, the Pro models will come with a 2TB internal storage – the maximum storage for iPhone 13 has already been moved from 12MB to 1TB.

iPhone 14 range will definitely support 5G and may have a 3D Touch technology that utilizes haptic feedback to enhance the quality of interactions.

iPhone 14 Display

Leaks suggest that iPhone 14 screen size will be 6.1 inches for a standard model and a Pro, and 6.7 inches for a Max and Pro Max.

According to Young, iPhone 14 will have an 1170 x 2532 OLED screen with a 60Hz refresh rate and 460 pixels per inch. iPhone 14 Pro will have a similar resolution but a higher refresh rate of 120Hz.

The iPhone 14 Pro Max is expected to have a 1284 x 2778 OLED screen with a 120Hz refresh rate and 458 pixels per inch. Apparently, iPhone 14 Max will have the same resolution and screen size as iPhone 14 Pro Max but a 60Hz refresh rate.

Apple has reportedly filed a patent for a technology seeking to make the screen stronger without making it thicker. The technology would be a cool feature for the iPhone but we don’t count on it – most patents tend to be dead ends.

iPhone 14 Battery

Reports point to a larger and improved battery. With the phones expected to be larger, the possibility of a larger battery is high. For charging, the phone might use a MagSafe charger in place of a Lightning Port.

It may come as a surprise to many if Apple gets rid of the Lighting Port. Nevertheless, new EU regulations may push the company to replace it as soon as possible.

These are the projected specs for the iPhone 14 range. Be keen to check back here soon as leaks are rolling in fast.
